Frontier X3 vs Frontier X2

Fourth Frontier

Last Update 21 hours ago

The Frontier X3 runs the same Frontier X app as the Frontier X2, with the same Frontier Premium entitlements. The main differences are the hardware — and ECG.

📝 ECG on the Frontier X3. The Frontier X3 does not display or provide an ECG output. We maintain a clear distinction between our medical and wellness products: ECG in a non-medical product cannot be used for diagnostic or other medical purposes, so we made a strategic decision not to carry the ECG feature into our next generation of wellness products. ECG is available in our FDA-cleared medical device, the Frontier X Plus. The underlying technology remains ECG-based — heart rate, HRV, strain, breathing rate and the other key metrics are still derived from ECG signals, and their accuracy is unchanged.

What's new in the Frontier X3

  • 7 days of continuous recording. The X2 records for up to 24 hours; the X3 records for 7 days at 24 hours a day, or about 4 months at an hour a day.
  • USB Type-C with quick charge, replacing micro-USB.
  • Lighter, with no on-device display. Device state is shown by the LED; battery and memory are in the app.
  • Bluetooth 6.0, up from BLE 5.2.
